Bytes to bits
Distinguish byte counts from bit counts. Eight bits make one byte.
Edit either value. Use a decimal point; commas group thousands. Rounding affects display only.
How to convert bytes to bits
Distinguish byte counts from bit counts. Eight bits make one byte.
Formula coefficients shown rounded. Calculations use the stored factors before display rounding.
A worked example
For 10 B, the result is approximately 80 bit. To go the other way, edit the result above or swap the units.
Decimal kB, MB and GB use powers of 1000. Binary KiB, MiB and GiB use powers of 1024. One byte is eight bits.
